Hang Zhou Shi

The Liangzhu Ancient City Site, dating back roughly 5,300 – 4,300 years, is located in Yuhang District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Situated on the river plains at the eastern edge of the Tianmu Mountains in the Taihu Lake region, it represents a key center of early Chinese civilization. Built between about 3300 and 2300 BC, the site features a large city, an advanced water management system, and hierarchical cemeteries. Rich jade artifacts reflect a unified belief system, advanced rice agriculture, and clear social stratification, earning Liangzhu recognition as a witness to China’s 5,000-year civilization and UNESCO World Heritage status in 2019.
