Xixi National Wetland Park lies in western Hangzhou, about 6 km from the city center and 5 km from West Lake. With roots in the Han and Jin dynasties, it prospered through the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing periods and was revived in modern times. Once known with West Lake and Xiling as the “Three Wests,” Xixi now protects 10.38 square kilometers of rare urban, agricultural, and cultural wetlands. Famous for its scenic spots, historic embankments, rich folk culture, and seasonal plum blossoms, Xixi is one of China’s earliest national wetland parks.
