The Lingering Garden is one of China’s Four Great Gardens, together with the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Summer Palace, and the Chengde Imperial Resort. Built in 1593 during the Ming Dynasty as a private garden, it was later renamed in the Qing era. Famous for pavilions, rockeries, winding paths, greenery, and jade ponds, the garden is divided into four themed areas showcasing natural, rural, forest, and floral landscapes.
